CONCENTRATE Consortium Meeting in Greifswald, 7–9 September 2026
From 7 to 9 September 2026, members of the TRR 420 CONCENTRATE consortium gathered at the University of Greifswald for their annual project meeting. The three-day event brought together researchers from across the consortium to exchange scientific progress, discuss ongoing activities and explore future directions for collaborative research.
The meeting opened with two invited talks offering insights into complementary approaches to marine microbiology and carbon cycling. Tjorven Hinzke presented how sequencing technologies can be used to elucidate biological interactions, while Uwe Schröder introduced the field of microbial electrochemistry, highlighting its relevance to extracellular electron transfer and marine carbon cycling.
The following days were dedicated to scientific progress reports from the different research projects. These presentations provided an opportunity to share recent findings, discuss current challenges and receive feedback from colleagues across the consortium. A poster session further encouraged scientific exchange and provided space for more in-depth discussions between researchers at different career stages.
The meeting concluded with a joint discussion of the next steps for CONCENTRATE. Three days of scientific exchange, networking and strategic discussions provided valuable momentum for the consortium’s ongoing collaborative work on carbon sequestration at Ångström resolution.
